Costus Root & Sandalwood Incense Sticks

Costus root (Dolomiaea costus), known in Arab traditions as Qist al-Hindi, in Chinese tradition as Mu Xiang, and in Ayurveda as Kushtha has been valued for generations by different cultures for its warm, woody, grounding aroma and its place in moments of reflection. We pair it with soft, creamy sandalwood for a calm and comforting scent.

Our Costus Root & Sandalwood Incense Sticks are prepared by hand in small batches so you can bring that quiet, contemplative atmosphere into your own space. Light one to mark the start of a ritual, to soften a room, or simply to pause and breathe.

These are coreless, Japanese-style sticks, also known as dhoop. We make them without a bamboo core so each stick holds more herbs, and we use only a small amount of binder so the true scent of the costus root and sandalwood comes through. Because of this, the sticks are delicate and may break, but every piece can still be burned and enjoyed.
